CHOOSING A LUXURY WEDDING VENUE IN LONDON CAN SEEM A DAUNTING TASK.

We list the top 10 most sought after luxury wedding venues in London from hotels to iconic venues.

1. The Savoy, Strand

The Savoy Hotel has to be one of London’s most prestigious and iconic luxury hotels for any wedding or event. Because it can cater for any size party from small and intimate weddings to a much larger gathering of up to four hundred people, The Savoy is the perfect choice for any couple who want to share their special day with their guests in this idyllic riverside location. The hotel has all the facilities that any bride and groom could expect in such a prestigious venue and also enjoys the benefits of an in-house florist. Its renowned kitchens are fully equipped to cater for kosher celebrations.

2. The Dorchester, Park Lane

The beautiful Art Deco decor of the Dorchester has recently been given a facelift and the splendid Ballroom now makes an even more incredible setting for your wedding or indeed any event or party. Able to seat four hundred for a banquet, the Dorchester kitchens are legendary – if special dietary requirements are needed, the kitchen facilities are extended to an outside specialist for the event. In common with the Savoy, the Dorchester also has an in-house florist, making it easy for any wedding planner to achieve the look they want. The Park Lane address makes this hotel one of the best known in the whole of London.

3. Natural History Museum, Kensington

For something completely different, the Grand Hall of the Natural History Museum in South Kensington has to be the place to choose. Not only can they cater for banquets of up to seven hundred people, the grand staircase provides any bride and groom with an entrance to die for – and sharing your special day with a giant dinosaur is certainly going to give your guests something to remember. This venue is ideal for any event, not just weddings. The High Victorian architecture both inside and out gives so many photo opportunities the cameras will be busy for the whole evening.

4. Victoria & Albert Museum, Kensington

The Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington is rightly one of the most famous museums in the world but not many people know that it has a wealth of spaces and galleries which can be hired for almost any size event. If you have a special birthday you want to celebrate with an intimate party for twenty five or so people or if you want to host a wedding party for as many as 400, then this is a perfect venue for you. The Victoria and Albert Museum works with a team of accredited suppliers, all of whom can work with this incredible space to give you the dream event of your life.

5. Claridges, Mayfair

If you think ‘Mayfair’ then you automatically think ‘Claridges’ and it is indeed the most sought after luxury wedding and event venue in the area. Popular with royalty, pop stars and the rich and famous, the fabulous Art Deco interior makes a stunning backdrop to your wedding or special party. Smaller than some of the other venues in our Top Ten, Claridges can hold a private event for up to 200 in its beautiful ballroom. There is a totally bespoke menu service, or if Kosher is required, Claridges can supply a suitable outside caterer.

6. One Mayfair

One Mayfair is a great venue for anyone who wants to design their wedding or party backdrop from scratch. This is a beautiful building with historic architecture, but the interior is deliberately left semi-blank, so that everyone can impress their own personality upon it. If you have strong ideas on how your wedding should look, then One Mayfair is the one for you. You can create something totally magical here, with no forced style to stop you – the sky is the limit and with the team of world-class suppliers who are linked to One Mayfair, you will know that you are only getting the best.

7. Mandarin Oriental, Knightsbridge

With possibly the most stunning façade in London, the Mandarin Oriental is certainly Knightsbridge’s most famous hotel.  Built in the very height of the Edwardian era, this hotel stops at nothing; the cream and gold interior of the ballroom and its adjoining rooms offer create a stunning event space that is hard to beat. Civil ceremonies can be held here and 200 guests can be accommodated at a banquet in the ballroom. Imagine you and your guests sweeping up in your cars outside this incredible hotel and then the gasps of surprise when everyone sees the interior.

8. Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane

If you are planning a really big wedding, the Grosvenor House Hotel in iconic Park Lane has to be your first choice. It has the largest luxury event suite in the whole of the UK, being able to seat a banquet of two thousand guests. It has no supporting pillars – another record breaker – and was once a skating rink, famous as the venue where Queen Elizabeth learned to skate. Don’t worry if your guest list is smaller – Grosvenor House also has a ballroom which seats 400 and other even smaller spaces for more intimate parties and weddings. There is an approved Kosher and Halal caterer, for Jewish and Asian weddings.

9. Landmark London, Marylebone

The Landmark London in Marylebone is not quite so famous as other venues on this list, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful of all the luxury hotels in the city. The façade, amazing Winter garden atrium and beautiful Grand Ballroom are all lovely spaces and offer great flexibility for almost any wedding style. Events at the Landmark naturally flow from ceremony to canapés to reception without the need for a turnaround. Up to 400 guests can dine in the Grand Ballroom under the stunning chandeliers. Being able to use all of such a splendid space means that your guests will not feel rushed and can enjoy the lovely surroundings.

10. Four Seasons, Park Lane

If you want chic rather than historic splendour, then this lovely event venue designed by Pierre Yves-Rochon should be your choice. It seamlessly carries its main theme of black leather and red brocade throughout the hotel. The ballroom seats up to 200 and has recently undergone intensive refurbishment so is spick and span to host your party or wedding. There are a number of licensed rooms in the Four Seasons which can play host to your civil ceremony, so you can plan your entire day within the hotel; for guests travelling from out of town this is such a bonus and the fabulous setting makes for a perfect wedding they will always remember.

Wildcard – Wrotham Park, Barnet

If you like the idea of following in the footsteps of the rich and famous, Wrotham Park is a perfect venue for your wedding. Ashley and Cheryl Cole celebrated their wedding here and Simon Cowell held his well-photographed 50th birthday here too. With a bespoke marquee enclosing the rear of this fabulous mansion, there is room for over 1000 guests in total. The mansion itself can hold 150 guests, making it perfect for those with a less extensive list of people to invite. Out of the city and yet just 30 minutes from the centre, this is a perfect country setting, but the marquee does come a little expensive at a minimum of £200,000.
